Proposal Outline:
Creation of environmental games to promote the environmental awareness of the students and having an environment corner in the school.
We are going to design creative games based on the environment to raise awareness among the students to care more about our environment. Recycled materials are to be used for making the game, and we will be getting the whole school to participate in this event. Each class can split into groups to design their very own environmental game, or they could do it as a whole class. The games need not only be board games, and may be other types of games, perhaps even requiring physical activity. Students will be required to research on the environment before creating the game. In this way, they will not only understand more about the environment and care more for our Mother Earth, but also be able to create a game that relates to the saving the Earth and raising others’ awareness of the environment.
We will also be setting up an environment corner in our school to display the games there and put up other relevant information about the environment (such as the current world news on environment, interesting facts and research, etc.) on the notice board there. Selected games which are useful in enabling students to understand more about the environment will be displayed, and students will be able to go to the environment corner to play the games there as well as read the information during their recess time or after school. The games and environment information will be changed every term and hence, this could be their project (IPW).
Another event which we want to carry out is our very own electricity-saving day in school. This refers to turning off all the lights and fans once every term to let the students experience how it is like not to have any electricity, and so that they will learn to conserve electricity more and save the Earth.
